The AIC Girls School and Rescue Center believes that all children have the right to an education. The center is committed to educating girls in the Maasai Mara region of Kenya. The girls in this area often are viewed as property without rights. They are forced to undergo Female Genital Mutilation to prepare them to be sold into marriage as early as age 10. A few girls have the opportunity to attend school, but once married are no longer allowed to be educated. Their older husbands use them to maintain cattle and to have more children, often in an abusive situation
The women of the AIC Rescue Center not only provide education, shelter and food for the girls, but also give them hope and a safe place to grow and be educated.
The women also offer counseling services to try to reconcile the girls with their families, teaching the elders the importance of educating their daughters. In 2015, WMO2H sponsored the education of 27 rescued girls.
