With My Own Two Hands Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that is dedicated to improving the lives of orphaned or disadvantaged children and youth in need. We believe that in order to diminish poverty we must start with the children. Our goal is to provide an education to children in need while making sure they have the necessities of shelter, water, and food.
Our mission is to provide education and basic life necessities to children in need in Africa through sustainable solutions.
Four areas that we focus on:
- Education: We build schools, sponsor education, and provide educational materials and necessities.
- Shelter/health: We help projects that own land to build orphanages and shelters to house children in need and allow them to become more self-sustainable by eliminating rent. (rent free)
- Water: We help bring running water to projects working to improve the lives of orphaned and vulnerable children and youth.
- Agriculture: We support small-scale gardens and agricultural projects that generate both food and income.
How We Do It
Our African Program Director investigates projects intended to provide better lives for children. We evaluate whether the projects’ needs align with our four areas of interest (described above). We then engage the WMO2H community to raise the necessary funds. Once the project is complete — with the oversight of our staff and Program Director — we take volunteer teams to see the results. Donors and supporters can witness first-hand the impact of their donations and fundraising efforts. We maintain long-lasting relationships with our partner projects.
Our vision is to empower individuals and businesses to recognize that they can make a difference with their own two hands. It’s common to think that we are too small to make an impact in our world. We want to show our community that they can, in fact, improve the lives of children in need.
